Sondheim Scholar Maheen Haq Receives Newman Civic Fellowship

The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes students who work to create social change and solve public problems. Maheen is committed to helping both the global and the local community. In January, Maheen traveled to Jordan to conduct research on the role of faith in coping for refugees. She worked with Helping Hand for Relief and Development, an organization that provides services to Syrian refugees.  Maheen supports local community growth in Maryland through her volunteer work with the Esperanza Center and food drives in Baltimore City.
