The mission of the Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program is to support talented undergraduates aspiring to careers in a wide variety of public service fields, including government, law, non-profit leadership, education, healthcare, and the private sector.

Sondheim Scholars address urgent social problems alongside communities through service-learning, internships, activism, and research.

The program honors Walter Sondheim, a champion of Baltimore’s renewal, a business leader, and an advocate for public education.

“As a Sondheim Scholar I am empowered to seek experiences that I not only enjoy, but that directly work to improve society. My internship at the Baltimore City Health Department, working to improve food access and equity throughout the city, challenges me to to think critically about the complex problems in society and to put my ideas into action.”
