Class of 2021: Jenna Williams

Congratulations, Sondheim Scholars Class of 2021

Jenna Williams

Major: Social Work

Minor: Sociology

Hometown: Baltimore City, Maryland

After her first year at UMBC, Jenna pivoted from plans to pursue a career in healthcare or veterinary medicine to pursue her passion for social work and community development. Jenna served as the president of UMBC’s chapter of Black Lives Matter and she recently completed a year of fieldwork in medical social work. After graduation, Jenna will intern with the American Red Cross as a natural disaster relief specialist. In the fall, Jenna will pursue her master’s degree in social work (MSW) at the University of Maryland School of Social Work as a Behavioral Health Workforce Integration Service and Education (BHWISE) Fellow.

A couple thoughts from Jenna on her time as a Sondheim Scholar:

What is your most memorable public service experience as a Sondheim Scholar?

My most memorable public service experience was the Sondheim Day of Service revamping an elementary school playground with PlayWorks. It was nice to see how you can make a difference, even if you do not have face-to-face contact with those that will be impacted.

What was your favorite Sondheim event?

My favorite Sondheim event was the Election Night Watch Party.
